History's Greatest Mystery: The Improbable Convergence of Four Images of Christ It is the most studied cloth in history. But is the Shroud of Turin simply a worthless fabric or is it a compelling chronicle of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ? History’s Greatest Mystery: The Improbable Convergence of Four Images of Christ offers compelling evidence of the authenticity of the Shroud. By comparing and contrasting the evidence on the Shroud with that contained on two other historical pieces of fabric, the Veil of Veronica held in Manoppello, Italy, and the Sudarium of Oviedo secured in Oviedo, Spain, author and historian Paul F. Caranci begins to unravel the mystery. Using the plethora of available research into these cloths, including hundreds of peer reviewed academic research studies, and even unlocking information from some of the more obscure studies, the author offers a gripping argument for the Shroud’s legitimacy. Further, Caranci demonstrates how the image of Divine Mercy, an early 20th-century painting directed by the hand of God, and centuries of Eucharistic Miracles, support the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin as containing evidence of both the passion and death of Jesus, as well as His glorious Resurrection.
In 1970, an infantry- man and his platoon encountered a horseshoe-shaped ambush in the jungles of Vietnam. Six members of the young soldier's unit were trapped behind enemy lines, facing certain death if rescue were not imminent. Twenty-one-year-old Specialist 4 Philip Salois and a fellow grunt were determined to save their six comrades. Before crawling out into the line of fire, Phil asked God to protect him and see him through this ordeal unharmed in return for a promise to do anything wanted of him afterwards. It is a promise that many men about to do battle make, but few keep. Four years later, while attending a Catholic seminary in California, this Rhode Island native heard an inner voice reminding him of the promise he had made, and informing him of what God had planned for his life. Fourteen years after the ambush and rescue, that young soldier became Fr. Philip Salois, a Catholic priest about to embark on a new charge. This time, the mission was to rescue veterans who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) caused by the horrors of their deployment in Vietnam. Over nearly forty years, Fr. Phil brought spiritual healing to countless troubled veterans, from infantrymen to chaplains alike, in his role as the Chief of Chaplains in the Boston VA Healthcare System, and in the numerous retreats and conferences that he organized all over the U.S. This is the awe-inspiring true story of the life of a gentle giant, a man who received the Silver Star for his acts of valor in Vietnam, and a man who has merited the highest distinction for his service, from veterans' organizations to religious and civic groups alike. Perhaps it was fate that brought them together. Five seasoned musicians, all of whom at some point in their individual careers had been close to realizing the dream of virtually every young musician - the ever elusive record deal. They had all been in bands that opened for legendary acts like Ray Charles, The Who, The Allman Brothers, The Turtles, and more. But they were older now - "fossils", if you will. They still enjoyed making music together as The Mustangs, but any dreams of stardom had faded away long ago. A 2008 Senate hearing focused on corporate largess in America just about put The Mustangs out of business. The ensuing cut back in entertainment budgets by most corporations meant a lack of work for the band and an abundance of downtime. That in turn led to an experiment. The idea was to form a multi-generational band that would focus on vocally challenging songs from the 1960s to the present. In 2010, two talented young female singers (foxes) joined up with the experienced voices of The Mustangs (fossils). Together, they produced a beautiful harmonic blend that band founder, Tim Purcell, describes as "ear candy". Some twelve years later, that band - Foxes and Fossils - has taken the Internet by storm. In a short time, they've risen from relative obscurity to a number one YouTube sensation. With over eighty million views on their channel (adding about 1.4 million new ones every month), and accolades from artists like Cat Stevens and Graham Nash, Foxes and Fossils have hundreds of thousands of fans in over forty different countries. Ear Candy: Foxes and Fossils, America's #1 Cover Band by Paul F. Caranci and band member Sammie Purcell, will take you on a musical journey with five fossils and three foxes. A journey starting from the humble beginnings of each member and culminating in the formation of Foxes and Fossils: a true American success story. ($30.00)
Dachau, the first and most brutal of all the Nazi concentration camps, was the site chosen to assemble the largest gathering of Catholic and Christian clergymen in history. Their inhumane treatment at the hands of the most ruthless collection of behemoths known to humanity is now brought to graphic life through the eyes of a Catholic priest imprisoned in Dachau in the early 1940s. Darkness at Dachau is the remarkable true story of Father Jean Bernard's stay at Germany's most brutal prison camp. The Luxembourg priest had been a vocal critic of the Nazi regime and used the Catholic film office to advocate his anti-fascist views. Following a year-long incarceration, Fr. Bernard was given an unprecedented ten-day furlough during which time he was presented with an opportunity that would result in his permanent release and the release of the hundreds of other clergymen housed at the Nazi camp. All he had to do was admit that he had been wrong in his opposition to the Third Reich and endorse its policies. Would he comply with their wishes to free himself and his fellow priests or would he return to the daily torture, starvation, and inhumanity that was life at Dachau? Darkness at Dachau: The True Story of Father Jean Bernard is destined to become a tour-de-force in the study of the impacts of Nazi Germany on religious freedom. It also exposes a dark and critical history that receives far too little attention. ($20.00)
Before the End of the Age: Signs of the Coming Chastisement Reading This Book Might Just Save Your Life! The chastisements will be small and localized at first. Earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, fires and floods, followed by plagues that will include invasions of locusts, mosquitoes and killer bees. Diseases will spread out of control and there will be civil unrest and great wars. Some will resort to prayer and penance. But not enough will repent and mankind will be struck with an illumination of conscience (enlightenment) that will enable each to vividly recall every sin ever committed. At this, some will die of fright and some will repent and praise God, but not enough will amend their lives. The enlightenment will be followed by a comet crashing to earth or passing by so close as to cause three days of darkness in which the entire earth will be blackened. During these days, the gates of hell will be opened, and the demons unleashed to roam the earth freely in search of souls. To survive, windows must be covered, and people must pray. Anyone who ventures outside or even looks out upon God’s wrath will be struck down instantly. Demons will knock at the door with voices imitating those of loved ones, but the person who opens the door will find instant death. At the end of the three days, people will emerge to find up to three quarters of the human population and all animal and plant-life dead. Everything will have been destroyed, and the living will envy the dead. But there will be peace and joy following these days. All you need to do is to survive and turn to God. The warning is clear as are the requirements necessary to survive the great chastisement. Before the End of the Age describes those warning-signs using prophetic utterances from the beginning of time to the year 2020. All you need to know to anticipate, survive or perhaps even avoid the chastisement is contained within the pages of this book. ($23.00)
Warning: This book is neither for the faint of heart nor children. It contains a graphic and prolonged rape and murder and has some graphic language. Everyone, it seems, missed the most obvious signs. A childhood filled with poverty, neglect, drugs, pornography, physical, mental, and sexual abuse, will invariably lead to an adulthood full of greed, lust and violence. No one, however, could have predicted the terror that Reginald and Jonathan Carr, two brothers in Kansas, would inflict on seven unsuspecting men and women over nine days in December 2000. The brother’s crime spree included assault, carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, rape, torture and murder. Their victims, all upstanding members of the Wichita community, were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Terror in Wichita: A Story of One Woman’s Courage and the Will to Live, exposes the true story of Jonathan and Reginald Carr. It also reveals the insidious horrors that befell their victims, bringing to life, hour-by-hour and day-by-day, the most egregious mental and physical cruelty imaginable, even to the point of their execution-style murders. The book does even more than that, however. It discloses the story of one woman’s refusal to become the ultimate victim, revealing her inner strength and amazing courage. It tells of that woman’s endurance and her astonishing rejection of death, at least without assurances that her torturers would be brought to justice for their heinous and cowardly acts. Terror in Wichita is a true crime story that will keep you up at night and compel you to look over your shoulder by day. ($12.95)
Heavenly Portrait: The Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe Heavenly Portrait: The Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, is the story of God's Divine Providence, and the birth of Catholicism in the Americas. It is also the story of how a lowly Indian named Juan Diego was entrusted by the Mother of God to unfurl an image so miraculous that for five-hundred years it has withstood destructive natural elements, physical abuse, wars and intentional attempts at destruction. It remains today a vibrant symbol of the strength and power of God and notice to all of the appointment of His Blessed Mother as the protector of the entirety of mankind. All that is needed to absorb its power is an open mind and heart. ($20.00)
I Am The Immaculate Conception: The Story of Bernadette of Lourdes (Finalist in the International Book Awards 2019) Two thousand years ago, Jesus told the parable of the suffering beggar Lazarus and the rich man. Each had died, with Lazarus joining God in heaven for all eternity while the rich man was condemned to the flames of hell. “Send someone to warn my brothers,” the rich man pleaded, “so they won’t end up in this place of torment.” But God said, “They have the prophets to warn them, your brothers can listen to them.” To which the rich man responded, “Then let Lazarus return from the dead that they may believe.” But God said, “They will not believe even if a man should rise from the dead.” Over the last five hundred years we have witnessed a great many Apparitions of the Virgin Mary in places such as Guadalupe, Mexico; Lourdes, France; Fatima, Portugal. Each Apparition has carried a distinct, albeit similar, message. Pray the rosary every day, sacrifice for the conversion of sinners and stop offending God. To do these things will mean the defeat of Satan and his Godless ways; an end to Communism and its worldly tendencies; and peace and harmony on earth. Regardless of the associated miracles witnessed by thousands, millions of people continue to deny the reality of the Apparitions and decry the message as a joke. This book recounts the historical life of Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes, France. A rather ordinary nineteenth century life turned upside down at the tender age of fourteen by the miraculous events that occurred in a rock Grotto near the dumping grounds of Massabielle; the many Apparitions of a Woman who identified Herself as The Immaculate Conception; the miraculous cures that were attributed to a spring of common water, the Virgin’s message to mankind; and the extraordinary relevance today for all that care to listen. But as Jesus said, “Even if someone should rise from the dead there would still be unbelievers.” Isn’t it a pity? ($20.00)
The Promise of Fatima: One Hundred Years of History, Mystery and Faith (Finalist in the International Book Awards 2018) It was 1917 and the world was about to change - Forever... Great nations were declaring war against other nations. Bosnian rebels were plotting the overthrow of the Serbian government. Foreign leaders were regular targets of assassination. Religious freedom was under attack. The Catholic faith was being oppressed. World order hung in the balance. And against this hostile backdrop, three humble shepherd children were witness to a series of improbable visions that were destined to change the world. Near the majestic fields of Cova da Iria, in a pasture owned by the dos Santos family near the village of Fatima, Portugal, a woman who shone more brilliant than the sun, simply and dramatically appeared. For six consecutive months, the woman, who identified herself as “Our Lady of the Rosary,” would reveal a message so poignant and urgent that this extraordinary occurrence has grown into a worldwide devotion that continues to thrive to this very day. Now, with the perspective of one hundred years of history and controversy, historian Paul F. Caranci retells the story presenting a unique hour-by-hour, day-by-day account of the events surrounding the appearance as they unfolded. And he describes change in the hearts of many, a change that is needed in everyone if the peace foretold and promised by “Our Lady of the Rosary” is to be realized. ($20.00)
Scoundrels: Defining Corruption Through Tales of Political Intrigue in Rhode Island (Winner of the Dorry Award for the best non-fiction of 2016) It has been said that political corruption is as old as government itself. Yet despite its timeless nature and its devastating impact on society, “political corruption” remains an elusive term that is difficult to define. In order to fully grasp its impact on government and society as a whole, it is critical to first have at least a cursory understanding of what corruption is and how it is measured. Using several infamous instances of corruption in Rhode Island politics as its framework (considered by many to be one of our nation’s most corrupt states), Scoundrels: Defining Corruption Through Tales of Political Intrigue in Rhode Island attempts to define what has not always been easily recognized and for years, has eluded traditional definition. This book examines and categorizes various forms of corruption – including both active and passive practices – that have negative and deteriorating affects not only on the individuals who fall victim to the corrupt acts, but on society as a whole. Scoundrels is an unsettling chronicle of corruption in our times. And the authors warn that until all citizens unite in their opposition to, and the exposing of, all government corruption, nothing in our society will change, and our government of the people, by the people and for the people will continue to hurt the people it was intended to help. Monumental Providence: Legends of History in Sculpture, Statuary, Monuments and Memorials "As an historic American city, the birthplace of church-state separation, the seat of prestigious institutions of higher education, the state capital, and a place of wide ethno-cultural diversity, Providence is the perfect subject for the book Paul and Heather have compiled. They have given us not only an artistic tour of the city, they have written a book that is a tour de force." Dr. Patrick T. Conley, RI Historian Laureate
"One could argue convincingly that our local public art is underappreciated or simply unnoticed, but Paul F. Caranci, Rhode Island’s Deputy Secretary of State And the author of three books on local history, in collaboration with his daughter Heather, seek to change that perception by raising the profile of the public art that surrounds us. The Carancis’ Monumental Providence can be enjoyed both as a casual read and as a useful guide during a walking tour of the Downtown and its surrounding neighborhood." Paul R. Campbell, Archivist, City of Providence ($20.00)
The Hanging & Redemption of John Gordon: The True Story of Rhode Island’s Last Execution (Named one of the 5 top non-fiction books of 2013) On a frigid day in 1843, Amasa Sprague, a wealthy Yankee mill owner, left his mansion to check on his cattle. On the way, he was accosted and beaten beyond recognition, and his body was left facedown in the snow. What followed was a trial marked by judicial bias, witness perjury and societal bigotry that resulted in the conviction of twenty-nine-year-old Irish-Catholic John Gordon. He was sentenced to hang. Despite overwhelming evidence that the trial was flawed and newly discovered evidence that clearly exonerated him, an anti-Irish Catholic establishment refused him a new trial. On February 14, 1845, John Gordon became the last victim of capital punishment in Rhode Island. Local historian Paul F. Caranci brings this case to life, graphically describing the murder and exposing a corrupt judicial system, a biased newspaper and a bigoted society responsible for the unjust death of an innocent man. ($20.00)
North Providence: A History and the People Who Shaped It It was a sanctuary for religious dissenters and the birthplace of industrial giants. In 1765, settlers to the west of Providence petitioned to form their own township. Their prayers were answered, and North Providence, Rhode Island, was born. While it sheltered religious dissenters, North Providence was also the sparking point of the Industrial Revolution – native sons and industrialists Samuel Slater and Zachariah Allen reinvented the cotton industry and altered the course of the nation. In this history of North Providence, author Paul F. Caranci celebrates the town’s colorful characters and provides walking tours for the villages of Lymansville, Allendale, Centredale, and Fruit Hill. Learn how North Providence native Stephen Olney became a Revolutionary War hero when he pulled an injured James Monroe from the battlefield and how Frank C. Angell became a spokesman for Centredale. Caranci reveals the unique history of North Providence and the people who shaped it. ($20.00)

Award-Winning Real Estate Sales in a Declining or Depressed Market Regardless of where in the United States you are licensed to sell real estate, the market is subject to cyclical highs and lows. Many real estate agents find that when the market is flourishing listings can be plentiful and clients can be obtained through traditional methods. But what happens when the market tanks? Some agents leave the profession in disgust. Others search for less conventional ways to continue their real estate success. This book will help all agents garner more listings in any market but it is intended for those who are searching for a way to, not just survive, but rather to thrive when market conditions are not so conducive to word of mouth or traditional advertising methods. Marketing to “For Sale By Owners” (FSBOs) can be intimidating to many real estate agents causing them to shy away from one of the most lucrative marketing strategies available to them. In fact, because many agents refuse to approach a FSBO, it remains one of the most productive weapons available in an agent’s arsenal. After all, these are people who have already made a firm decision to sell their home. They just don’t realize yet that they will net more money from the sale if they hire a real estate agent even after paying commissions as high as 6 or 7%. This book will demystify the process of working with FSBOs. It will teach you all you need to know to not only identify and approach a FSBO, but to contract for the listing and make more money than you ever thought possible in any real estate market, particularly a depressed or declining one. Wired: A Shocking True Story of Political Corruption and the FBI Informant Who Risked Everything to Expose It It was an explosive case of political corruption that rocked a small town, an entire state and drew headlines across the nation. Three sitting councilmen had been arrested and accused of executing a scheme to extort bribes. And once the dust settled, as many as ten officials were caught up in a scandal that swirled around nearly everyone in the suburban New England town that some called, “the most corrupt town in America.” Yet, had it not been for one man who worked undercover with the FBI for seventeen months – a career politician with thirty years’ experience railing against corruption – the scheme may never have been revealed. In Wired, the author shares his own harrowing personal account of how he gambled his thirty-year political career, his reputation, and his family’s safety in his quest to restore good, honest government to a community that needed it most. But Wired is more than just the tale of one valiant act. It is an exhaustively researched and detailed journey through the ins and outs of gritty small-town politics, behind the scenes dealings, and the corrupt activities that obscure local politics in the modern era. It's the story of something that could happen in any town in America, and regrettably, probably does. ($23.00)
